In a powerful tribute nearly one year after her passing, the family of Deaconess Doyinsola Ogunbiyi, JP (1954–2024), has launched the Doyin Ogunbiyi Memorial Skills Acquisition Grant (DOMSAG) a nationwide empowerment initiative aimed at transforming lives through practical and digital skills training.
The announcement, made ahead of the first anniversary of her death on November 11, honours the late matriarch’s lifelong passion for community development, women’s empowerment, and education.
According to the Ogunbiyi family, the memorial grant is designed to support Nigerians seeking to acquire hands-on or tech-based skills that can help them achieve financial independence, improve their livelihoods, and contribute meaningfully to society.
“Our mother lived a life of purpose; serving, giving, and empowering. The DOMSAG is a continuation of her heartbeat for humanity,” the family said in a statement.
Through the initiative, selected beneficiaries will receive funding and mentorship opportunities to learn trades, digital skills, or vocational crafts that promote self-reliance.
The late Deaconess Ogunbiyi, fondly remembered for her humanitarian service and spiritual devotion, was a Justice of Peace and community leader whose influence spanned faith-based, educational, and social development circles.
The family has also launched a dedicated website — www.doyinogunbiyi.com — where interested Nigerians can learn more about the grant and apply or share the opportunity with others who may benefit.
As the first anniversary of her passing draws near, her legacy of compassion and empowerment continues to shine brightly through the DOMSAG initiative, symbolising hope and opportunity for a new generation.
