iShowSpeed Defends Africa Tour Vision Amid Criticism Over Creator Collaborations in Nigeria

YouTube star says tour is designed to spotlight African culture, everyday talent, and local communities not influencer meet-ups

Global streaming sensation iShowSpeed has addressed mounting criticism accusing him of being disrespectful for not collaborating with Nigerian content creators during his ongoing Africa tour, offering a clear explanation of the mission behind the highly publicised visit.

In a detailed response shared online, Speed explained that the primary goal of his Africa tour is not to create streamer collaborations but to showcase the culture, people, and everyday life across African countries. According to him, the tour is intentionally focused on highlighting local communities, street performers, and individuals with raw talent who rarely get international exposure.

The YouTuber clarified that every stop on the tour is carefully pre-planned and time-restricted, with a tight schedule mapped out by his management team. He noted that specific locations must be visited in each country, leaving little room for spontaneous changes or influencer meet-ups outside the itinerary.

Responding to complaints from some creators, Speed stated that many of those demanding collaborations already have established platforms and visibility. In contrast, the tour is meant to amplify voices and talents that are often overlooked, rather than centring attention on influencers who are already known.

He further emphasised that he would not cancel cultural activities or moments arranged by local hosts simply to accommodate content creators, stressing that the tour’s purpose is to put African culture on display for a global audience.

Speed’s remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online, with supporters praising his commitment to authentic cultural storytelling, while critics argue that collaborations could further boost local creators. Regardless, the streamer remains firm that the Africa tour is about culture first, not clout, as he continues his journey across the continent.
