Campaign Set for January 20, 2026, with 12-Day Drive to Curb Vaccine-Preventable Diseases
The Lagos State Government has announced the commencement of a large-scale Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign, set to begin on January 20, 2026. The ten-day initiative, with an additional two-day mop-up period, aims to immunize approximately 10.5 million children across the state.
According to health authorities, the campaign is part of Lagos State’s proactive strategy to reduce the burden of vaccine-preventable diseases among children and strengthen public health outcomes. The mop-up days are designed to reach children who may miss initial vaccination rounds, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
Officials emphasized that parents and guardians should take advantage of this campaign to protect their children against measles and rubella, diseases known for their severe complications if left unchecked. The government also urged collaboration from communities to achieve full participation and safeguard the health of Lagos’ youngest residents.
