The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has officially launched its “Go Cashless” policy across all airports under its management, mandating that payments for services such as parking, ticketing, and other applicable transactions be made electronically.

The initiative is designed to modernize payment systems within airport facilities and reduce reliance on physical cash transactions. Authorities say the policy will enhance operational efficiency, improve security, and promote transparency in financial transactions across airport operations.

Under the new framework, passengers, airport users, and service providers are required to complete payments through approved digital channels, including electronic transfers, point-of-sale systems, and other authorized digital payment platforms. Officials stated that the shift aligns with broader national efforts to strengthen digital financial inclusion and streamline public sector revenue collection.

FAAN emphasized that the policy aims to create a faster and more convenient airport experience while minimizing risks associated with cash handling, such as theft, fraud, and transaction discrepancies. The authority also assured stakeholders that support systems and payment infrastructure have been put in place to ensure smooth implementation.

Airport users have been advised to familiarize themselves with the new payment procedures and ensure access to approved electronic payment methods before arriving at airport facilities. Authorities said enforcement of the policy will be monitored to ensure compliance across all terminals nationwide.
