NetNaija CEO Emmanuel Analike Arraigned Over Alleged Copyright Infringement, Remanded in Kuje Prison

Nigerian Copyright Commission prosecutes website operator over alleged possession, reproduction, and distribution of pirated content

Emmanuel Analike, the Chief Executive Officer of the popular NetNaija movies website, has been arraigned by the Nigerian Copyright Commission before the Federal High Court in Abuja over multiple counts of alleged copyright infringement.

According to the Commission, Analike is accused of possessing, reproducing, and distributing pirated movies and music through the NetNaija platform, actions which allegedly violate Nigeria’s copyright laws.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read before the court. Following the arraignment, the court ordered that he be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the determination of his bail application.

The court adjourned the matter and fixed March 9 for ruling on the bail application as proceedings in the case continue.
