The Federal Government has condemned the killing of two Nigerian nationals in South Africa, calling on authorities in the country to urgently investigate the incidents and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The Nigerian government expressed concern over what it described as a growing pattern of attacks against Nigerians and other foreign nationals living in South Africa.
It warned that continued violence against Nigerian citizens could put pressure on the relationship between both countries if decisive steps are not taken to protect lives and hold perpetrators accountable.
The government called on South African authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the killings and ensure that justice is served.
It also stressed the need for stronger measures to protect Nigerians and other foreigners from violence and prevent further attacks.
Nigeria and South Africa are two of Africa’s largest economies and maintain important diplomatic, economic and cultural ties. However, attacks on foreign nationals in South Africa have repeatedly caused tension and raised concerns over the safety of Nigerians living in the country.
The Federal Government maintained that the safety and welfare of Nigerians abroad remain a priority, urging South African authorities to take urgent steps to address the situation.
It also called for calm while diplomatic efforts continue to ensure justice for the victims and prevent further violence against Nigerians in South Africa.
