Saudi Airlines has yet to respond to enquiries following a ₦6 million sanction imposed by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over alleged violations of consumer protection regulations.
According to the NCAA, the penalty was issued after the airline allegedly failed to resolve multiple consumer complaints despite repeated interventions by the regulator and an extended compliance period.
The authority said it had previously intervened during an incident involving the airline at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where its officials helped prevent a breakdown of law and order following passengers' complaints. Rather than immediately impose sanctions, the NCAA said it opted for dialogue and granted the airline additional time to address the issues.
However, the regulator maintained that Saudi Airlines failed to comply with its directives, prompting the enforcement action under Part 19 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023, which protects the rights of air passengers.
The NCAA stressed that the sanction is intended to ensure greater accountability and improve the airline's operations in Nigeria, while reaffirming its commitment to protecting the rights of passengers.
As of the time of filing this report, the airline had not issued an official response to the sanction or enquiries regarding the matter.
