The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Abia State University branch, has suspended its ongoing industrial action and directed members to resume academic duties with immediate effect.
The directive takes effect from Friday, August 28, 2026, following the union's decision to suspend the strike.
Members of the union have consequently been instructed to return to their academic responsibilities, including teaching, supervision and other related duties.
The suspension is expected to pave the way for the resumption of academic activities at Abia State University, bringing relief to students who have been affected by the industrial action.
Further details on the issues that led to the strike and the circumstances surrounding its suspension are expected to emerge as the university community resumes normal academic activities.
