Security expert Moruf Yusuf, popularly known as Ojogbon, has urged parents to take greater responsibility for their children's education and ensure they understand the importance of staying in the classroom and paying attention.
Yusuf gave the advice in Series #140 of The Secure Mind, titled “Encourage Your Child to Stay in the Classroom.”
He noted that children are the future of society and that proper training, guidance and monitoring can help them develop into responsible citizens and contribute positively to their communities.According to him, some pupils and students are increasingly displaying disrespect, laziness, poor concentration and a lack of appreciation for the importance of education, making parental involvement more important.
Yusuf stressed that parents should not leave the responsibility of raising and educating their children entirely to teachers.
He encouraged parents to regularly speak with their children about good behaviour, discipline, concentration and the importance of remaining in class and paying attention during lessons.
He advised parents to consistently remind their children to go to school, remain attentive and take their studies seriously.
The security expert also encouraged parents to maintain regular communication with their children's teachers and monitor their academic performance, conduct and general wellbeing.
He noted that effective education requires a strong partnership between the home and the school, with parents playing the roles of guides, mentors and role models.
Yusuf further emphasised that parental responsibility extends beyond paying school fees and providing educational materials. Parents must also show interest in how their children are performing academically and behaving within and outside the classroom.
He said early guidance and consistent parental monitoring can help children develop discipline, responsibility and positive attitudes that will benefit them later in life.
“Investing in and monitoring the financial commitment toward children helps shape them into fine products of society.”
Yusuf urged parents to remain actively involved in their children's education and development, stressing that the combined efforts of parents and teachers are essential to raising responsible and productive members of society.
Just be good. Reflect. Stay alert.
