Veteran broadcaster and television host Frank Edoho has claimed that a Federal Government fine imposed on the show's sponsor was responsible for the suspension of the popular television quiz programme, "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire."
Speaking on the circumstances surrounding the programme's disappearance from television, Edoho said the financial penalty placed on the sponsor significantly affected its ability to continue funding the long-running show.
"The Federal Government fine on the show sponsor forced 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' off air," Edoho said.
According to him, the programme's exit was not due to poor viewership or a lack of public interest but was largely influenced by the financial impact of the regulatory sanction on its sponsor.
