The Federal Government has graduated the first cohort of about 250 participants trained under the National Agricultural Mechanisation Service Providers (NAMSP) Training Programme.
The programme is designed to strengthen the technical capacity of agricultural mechanisation service providers and improve the sustainability of machinery deployment across Nigeria.
The training is expected to equip participants with practical skills required to operate, maintain and manage agricultural machinery more effectively, helping to reduce equipment downtime and improve productivity.
The Federal Government said strengthening the capacity of local service providers is essential to ensuring that investments in agricultural machinery translate into sustained benefits for farmers.
The initiative is also expected to support Nigeria's broader efforts to expand mechanised farming, improve agricultural productivity and reduce dependence on manual farming practices.
The graduation of the first cohort marks a significant step in the implementation of the NAMSP programme, with further training expected to expand the pool of skilled personnel supporting agricultural mechanisation across the country.
The government said the programme would contribute to building a more efficient and sustainable agricultural mechanisation ecosystem capable of supporting farmers and improving food production.
