Rick Ross Arrested in Miami Beach on Domestic Violence Charges

American rapper Rick Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, has been arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, on charges of felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident.

Ross, 50, voluntarily surrendered to Miami Beach police early Thursday and was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at about 6:10 a.m., according to police and jail records.

According to an arrest affidavit, the allegations stem from an incident that reportedly occurred on August 28 at Ross’ residence on Star Island. A woman who told police she had been in a relationship with Ross for about a year alleged that he struck her several times during an argument and restricted her breathing by twisting the collar of her hoodie.

The woman also alleged that Ross grabbed her by her ponytail, slammed her against a wall and struck her in the face, leaving her with an injured lip. She later provided investigators with photographs of injuries, while police also reviewed surveillance footage as part of the investigation.

The alleged incident was reported to police on September 29, about a month after it allegedly occurred.

Ross appeared in court on Thursday, where his attorney entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf. A judge ordered him to stay away from the alleged victim and set his bond at $5,000. Ross was subsequently released from custody.

Following his release, Ross denied the allegations, describing them as fabricated. His attorneys have also maintained that he was wrongfully accused and urged the public not to prejudge the case while the legal process continues.

The rapper’s arraignment is scheduled for October 22.

The case remains ongoing, and the allegations against Ross have not been proven in court.
