Kamala Harris Sparks 2028 Buzz: ‘I’m Not Done Yet!

Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has hinted that her political journey is far from over, revealing that she may once again contest for the White House in the near future.

In an exclusive interview with the BBC on Saturday, Harris declared, “I am not done,” adding that she could “possibly” still become president one day  her strongest indication yet of a potential 2028 presidential bid.

The former Vice President, who made history as America’s first female and first Black woman to hold the office, lost the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump after President Joe Biden dramatically withdrew from the race just 107 days before Election Day.

Harris later chronicled the turbulent period in her memoir “107 Days,” where she had initially signaled she would step away from high office, expressing disillusionment with Washington’s political system.

“I’ll no longer sit in DC in the grandeur of the ceremonial office,” she wrote. “I will be with the people  in towns and communities  where I can listen to their ideas on how we rebuild trust, empathy, and a government worthy of the ideals of this country.”

But in her latest comments, Harris struck a renewed tone of determination. Asked whether her nieces might see a female president in their lifetime, she confidently replied, “Within their lifetime for sure.” When pressed if it could be her, she smiled and added, “Possibly.”

Addressing polls that rank her as an outsider in a potential Democratic primary, Harris dismissed them bluntly: “There are all kinds of polls that will tell you a variety of things. I’ve never listened to polls. I certainly wouldn’t be sitting here if I did.”

In “107 Days,” Harris also revisited Biden’s abrupt decision to suspend his campaign and endorse her, calling it an act of “recklessness.” She wrote that the stakes were too high to leave such a consequential decision to chance, emphasizing that leadership requires foresight and courage.

The memoir further detailed her difficult decision-making process in choosing a running mate, revealing why several top Democrats —including Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg were ultimately not selected.

While Harris has not officially confirmed a 2028 bid, her remarks have reignited speculation within U.S. political circles that she may soon re-enter the race this time with renewed purpose and a stronger message for America’s future.
