ACE outreach delivers care, dignity and compassion through hygiene support, meals, counselling and faith-driven community service
Anne Cares Empowerment (ACE), an evangelistic humanitarian initiative of Cares Global Network, has brought renewed hope and joy to children living in homeless situations in Arepo, Ogun State, through a carefully coordinated community outreach focused on care, dignity and compassion.
The outreach, held on Monday, December 22, drew volunteers from Graceful Women Ministry, Prayer Channel, and other partner groups who came together to serve vulnerable children and adults within the community. Activities included free haircuts and hair styling for boys and girls, alongside the distribution of hygiene kits containing combs, hair creams for children, body creams for adults, hair accessories, books, sanitary towels, and other essential items. Nutritious meals were also prepared and served to beneficiaries in an orderly and calm atmosphere.
Beyond material support, the event featured photo sessions and counselling engagements centered on self-esteem, personal hygiene, education, and empowerment. The children, visibly excited yet composed, patiently observed the cooking process and participated in an organized ticketing system for meals and gift distribution, reflecting the thoughtful planning behind the initiative.
Speaking on the mission’s purpose, Dr. Omolola Omoteso, Team Lead of Anne Cares Empowerment, stressed the importance of intentional kindness. She explained that the project was instituted in 2018 after she witnessed the harsh living conditions of children in the area while residing in Arepo.
“We believe that every child deserves to feel valued and loved,” Dr. Omoteso said. “Our goal is to show the love of Jesus Christ to the children, their parents, and the wider community, so they can experience undiluted kindness, compassion, and care.”
She also shared a touching moment from the outreach, recalling how an adult woman, though not a direct beneficiary for child-focused support, expressed gratitude for the visit. In response, Dr. Omoteso offered her a meal and a purse she had taken to church the previous Sunday an item still in regular use underscoring the spirit of genuine giving that defined the day. Other adults also received various forms of support, including gifts and financial assistance, particularly those who contributed to the smooth running of the outreach.
Dr. Omoteso noted a strategic shift in the foundation’s approach to giving. “We used to distribute mostly fairly used items, but the Holy Spirit led us to understand that giving newer items communicates love more deeply and helps soften the hearts of children who have long been neglected by government welfare and social amenities,” she said.
The collaborative mission was sponsored by Cares Global Network, Ibiyemi Foundation for Education, and Walk With Widows Initiative. The outreach was preceded by three days of prayer, with continued prayers offered during and after the event.
Encouraged by the success of the initiative, Dr. Omoteso called on members of the public to embrace the spirit of the season by extending support to the less privileged, emphasizing that collective compassion remains a powerful tool for transforming lives and communities.
