Funke Akindele Breaks Her Own Record as Nollywood’s Highest-Grossing Producer With ₦6.28 Billion Box Office Milestone

Blockbuster titles including Everybody Loves Jenifa and A Tribe Called Judah drive the actress-filmmaker’s historic run at the Nigerian box office

Funke Akindele has further cemented her place in Nigerian film history, extending her record as Nollywood’s highest-grossing producer following an extraordinary box office haul of ₦6.288 billion (approximately $4.338 million) across her film projects. The latest figures underline Akindele’s unmatched commercial appeal and her consistent ability to deliver audience-favourite stories that dominate cinemas nationwide.


Leading the pack is Everybody Loves Jenifa, which emerged as her biggest box office success to date, grossing ₦1.883 billion and reaffirming the enduring popularity of the Jenifa franchise. Close behind is A Tribe Called Judah, which recorded an impressive ₦1.408 billion, further showcasing Akindele’s strength in ensemble storytelling and family-centred narratives.


Other major contributors to the record-breaking total include Behind The Scenes with ₦1.109 billion, Battle on Buka Street which earned ₦668 million, and Omo Ghetto: The Saga at ₦636 million. Earlier successes such as Your Excellency (₦186.3 million) and The Return of Jenifa (₦35 million) also add to the remarkable cumulative figure that now sets her apart in Nollywood history.


Industry observers say Akindele’s achievements go beyond numbers, highlighting her role in raising production standards, expanding cinema culture, and proving that locally told stories can achieve massive commercial success.
