Chairman, Ogun State Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, leads chapter to national recognition in the Event Management category.

The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Event Management category of the 2026 National Spokesperson Awards (NS Awards), earning national recognition for its outstanding contributions to professional public relations practice and strategic event management.

The announcement followed the completion of the first and second phases of the jury's assessment, which produced 42 finalists across 16 categories in what organisers described as one of the most competitive editions of the awards since their inception.

Under the leadership of the Chairman of the Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, the chapter secured a place among the three finalists in the Event Management category alongside the NIPR Anambra and Kaduna State Chapters.

Speaking on the selection process, Chairman of the Jury, Professor Saudat Abdulbaqi, disclosed that the exercise began with 171 nominations received from across Nigeria. Following an initial eligibility screening, 91 entries advanced to the second stage after meeting key requirements, including clarity of objectives, measurable impact and verifiable evidence.

She explained that shortlisted entries were assessed using four major criteria which includes: impact, innovation and originality, reach, and the quality of evidence submitted to ensure a transparent, credible and merit-based selection process.

Chairman of the Awards Committee, Mr. Segun McMedal, commended the jury, made up of academics, public relations practitioners, journalists and publishers, for conducting a thorough evaluation. He noted that the finalists represent some of Nigeria's finest communication professionals and institutions, reflecting the increasing sophistication of the country's public communication ecosystem.

McMedal stated that the National Spokesperson Awards, now in their sixth edition, were established to promote professionalism, celebrate excellence in public communication and strengthen the strategic role of spokespersons in governance, corporate leadership and national development.

He added that the final jury would reconvene in the coming weeks to determine winners across all categories based on measurable impact, innovation and overall contributions to advancing strategic communication in Nigeria.

The 2026 National Spokesperson Awards ceremony is scheduled to hold in August 2026 in Abuja, alongside the annual Economic Confidential Lecture, which brings together government spokespersons, corporate communication leaders, media executives, public relations professionals and public policy experts from across the country.
