Two Nigerian innovators and law students of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Seun Ogun and Samson Adeniran, have been honoured with the 2026 Olabisi Onabanjo University Research and Innovation Award, emerging as the Second Position winners in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Creative Innovations category for their outstanding contribution to legal technology.
The recognition was presented during the university's Inter-Faculty Competition for Research Innovations, organised by the Directorate of Research, in acknowledgment of their exceptional creativity, originality, research excellence and the potential societal impact of their innovation.
The award comes on the heels of the continued success of JuristMind AI, an all-in-one AI-powered legal platform developed by the duo to simplify legal research, document drafting and workflow management for lawyers, law students, researchers and members of the public.
Although already operational and serving users, JuristMind AI recently expanded its reach with the release of its Android application, making the platform even more accessible to legal professionals and users across Nigeria and Africa.
Developed to address longstanding challenges in legal practice, the platform combines lightning-fast legal research, intelligent document drafting with up to 99.8 per cent accuracy, legal automation and workflow management tools tailored specifically to Nigerian and African jurisprudence.
The innovation is designed to help legal practitioners reduce research time, improve productivity, enhance document preparation and provide easier access to legal information through modern technology.
Speaking on the significance of the project, the innovators said their vision is to bridge the gap between law and technology by creating practical digital solutions capable of improving legal service delivery across the continent.
The Directorate of Research, Olabisi Onabanjo University, commended the students for developing an innovation that demonstrates originality, academic excellence and the capacity to address real-world challenges through research-driven technology.
The recognition further highlights the growing role of Nigerian students in driving innovation and developing homegrown technological solutions capable of competing on both national and international stages.
With JuristMind AI continuing to gain traction within the legal community, Seun Ogun and Samson Adeniran are positioning themselves among a new generation of young Nigerian innovators leveraging artificial intelligence to reshape the future of legal practice in Africa.
