Air Force operations in Tsafe LGA deal major blow to armed groups as military intensifies campaign against insecurity
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded a significant operational success following two precision airstrikes carried out in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on December 28, 2025, leading to the destruction of key bandit strongholds and an improvised explosive device (IED) manufacturing facility.
According to military sources, the coordinated air operations were executed after credible intelligence revealed the presence of heavily fortified hideouts used by armed bandit groups terrorising communities across Zamfara and neighbouring states. The strikes targeted strategic locations believed to serve as command centres, logistics hubs, and weapons production sites for the criminal networks.
The airstrikes reportedly neutralised several bandit enclaves while completely dismantling an IED factory, a critical asset used by the groups to carry out deadly attacks on security personnel and civilians. Military analysts say the destruction of the facility will significantly weaken the operational capacity of the bandits and disrupt their ability to mount coordinated assaults.
Residents in nearby communities confirmed hearing sustained aerial activity during the operation, describing it as one of the most intense military actions in the area in recent months. No civilian casualties were reported, underscoring the precision and intelligence-driven nature of the strikes.
The Nigerian Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to supporting ongoing counterterrorism and anti-banditry efforts in collaboration with other security agencies, stressing that air power remains a decisive tool in degrading criminal elements threatening national security.
The operation forms part of a broader military offensive aimed at restoring peace, safeguarding lives and property, and reclaiming territories previously overrun by armed groups in Nigeria’s North-West region.
