Fresh Online and Physical CVR Drive Records Major Surge Ahead of Upcoming Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday released its latest update on the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, confirming that a total of 2,685,725 new voters have been registered across Nigeria.
According to the Commission, the figure represents the combined outcome of ongoing online pre-registration and physical capture at state and local government area centres nationwide. The surge in new registrations reflects growing public interest in participating in future electoral processes, as citizens continue to take advantage of the reopened CVR window.
INEC noted that the registration data will undergo further validation, including biometric checks and review for multiple or invalid entries. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a transparent, credible, and inclusive voter registration process as preparations intensify for the next general cycle.
With millions of new voters added to the national roll, INEC is urging eligible Nigerians who have not yet registered to visit the official portal or any designated centre to complete their registration before the exercise concludes.
