JAMB Begins Nationwide Inspection of 848 Centres Ahead of 2026 UTME

Exercise aims to ensure compliance with examination standards, improve security, and guarantee a seamless testing experience for candidates.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced the inspection of 848 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across Nigeria in preparation for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The nationwide exercise is part of JAMB’s early preparations to ensure that all accredited centres meet the required operational, technical, and ethical standards for conducting the examination. According to the Board, the inspections will focus on infrastructure, computer systems, power supply, surveillance equipment, internet connectivity, and overall compliance with JAMB’s examination guidelines.

Officials involved in the inspection are expected to assess the readiness of each centre to deliver a smooth and credible examination process, while also identifying facilities that may require upgrades or risk losing accreditation. Centres found wanting may be suspended or disqualified from participating in the 2026 UTME.

JAMB has consistently emphasized that early inspection is critical to maintaining the integrity of the examination and reducing challenges such as technical failures, examination malpractice, and candidate discomfort. The Board noted that the move reflects its commitment to continuous improvement and transparency in the conduct of public examinations.

The inspection exercise is also expected to strengthen collaboration between JAMB and CBT centre operators, ensuring uniform standards nationwide and enhancing candidates’ confidence in the examination process.

With the inspection now underway, stakeholders believe the proactive step will contribute significantly to a more efficient, secure, and candidate-friendly UTME in 2026, reinforcing JAMB’s reputation for innovation and accountability in Nigeria’s education sector.
