Ooni of Ife Confers Prestigious Chieftaincy Title on Ghanaian President John Mahama

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has conferred a prestigious chieftaincy title on Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, in a ceremony that highlighted deep-rooted cultural bonds and shared heritage between Nigeria and Ghana.


The honour was bestowed during a colourful traditional event at the Ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State, where dignitaries, traditional rulers, cultural leaders, and guests from across West Africa gathered to witness the historic moment. The conferment was described as a symbolic recognition of President Mahama’s leadership, statesmanship, and contributions to regional cooperation and African unity.
