The Federal Government has launched the National Laureate Prize, a new initiative designed to recognise and reward outstanding student researchers and innovators across Nigeria’s higher education institutions.
Under the programme, exceptional students who demonstrate groundbreaking research, innovation, and academic excellence will have the opportunity to receive awards of up to N20 million. The initiative is aimed at encouraging a culture of research, creativity, and problem solving among young scholars in Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions.
Officials say the National Laureate Prize is part of broader efforts to strengthen the country’s research ecosystem and support students whose ideas and discoveries can contribute to national development. The programme is expected to motivate young researchers to pursue innovative projects that address critical challenges in sectors such as science, technology, healthcare, agriculture, and engineering.
