Lagos Government Bans Sale of Rams on Highways Across the State

Authorities cite traffic management, public safety, and environmental concerns

The Lagos State Government has banned the sale of rams on highways and road corridors across Lagos State as part of efforts to improve traffic management, public safety, and environmental sanitation.

According to state authorities, the directive is aimed at preventing obstruction of roads, reducing traffic congestion, and addressing safety risks associated with roadside livestock trading, especially during peak festive and commercial periods.

Officials warned that the indiscriminate display and sale of rams along highways pose dangers to motorists, pedestrians, and traders, while also contributing to environmental nuisance and disorder within public spaces.

The government advised livestock sellers to operate only within approved markets and designated trading areas in compliance with existing regulations.

The move forms part of broader efforts by the Lagos State Government to maintain orderliness, improve urban management, and enhance public safety across major roads and commercial areas within the state.
