Gbajabiamila Files N15bn Defamation Suit Over Alleged N27.3bn Kickback Claim

Chief of Staff to the President asks Abuja High Court to award damages over allegations linking him to a federal agency's take-off grant.

The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has filed a N15 billion defamation suit against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The suit follows allegations that Gbajabiamila demanded a 48 per cent kickback from a N27.3 billion take-off grant approved for a federal agency.

According to the court filing, the Chief of Staff described the allegations as false, defamatory and damaging to his reputation, maintaining that he neither requested nor received any kickback in connection with the grant.

Gbajabiamila is seeking N15 billion in damages, along with other reliefs, over what he claims are defamatory statements made against him.

The case is expected to be heard by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, where both parties will have the opportunity to present their arguments.
