The Federal Government has announced that about 668,000 electricity meters have been deployed and installed at customers’ premises across Nigeria.
The government said the initiative is aimed at improving electricity metering, promoting transparency in billing and reducing the reliance on estimated billing for electricity consumers.
The increased deployment of meters is expected to help customers better understand and manage their electricity consumption while enabling distribution companies to obtain more accurate data on energy usage.
The development forms part of the Federal Government's broader efforts to reform the power sector, improve service delivery and strengthen accountability across the electricity value chain.
The government also reiterated its commitment to expanding access to electricity and ensuring that investments in the sector translate into improved services for consumers.
