Never Attempt to Disarm Law Enforcement Agents — Moruf Yusuf

Security expert warns Nigerians against confronting armed personnel and urges citizens to use lawful channels to address misconduct.

Security expert Moruf Yusuf, popularly known as Ojogbon, has warned Nigerians against attacking, overpowering or attempting to disarm law enforcement agents.

Yusuf gave the advice in Series #135 of The Secure Mind, titled “Do Not Dare to Disarm Law Enforcement Agents.”

He explained that security personnel are entrusted with protecting lives, maintaining public order and responding to security threats, duties which may require them to carry firearms as authorised by law.

The security expert cautioned citizens against attempting to take weapons from armed personnel, stressing that such actions could create an extremely dangerous situation, endanger lives and escalate an already tense encounter.

He advised Nigerians who disagree with the conduct of a security officer to remain calm, avoid confrontation and use lawful channels to report misconduct or seek redress.

Yusuf stressed that confronting armed personnel can have serious consequences and urged citizens to prioritise their safety and that of others during tense encounters.

He said a security-conscious individual understands the risks associated with confronting armed officers and chooses peaceful and lawful means to resolve disputes.

“Any attempt to disarm security agents can escalate a situation dangerously and put lives at risk.”

He urged Nigerians to exercise restraint, remain alert and avoid actions that could turn a disagreement with security personnel into a life-threatening confrontation.

Just be good. Reflect. Stay alert.
