Country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer, according to her publicist. She died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Her publicist said Parton died at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, surrounded by loved ones. The type of cancer was not disclosed.
The development comes after Parton had publicly acknowledged recent health challenges. She had also reduced some public appearances and, in the days before her death, continued to communicate with fans despite her health struggles.
Parton leaves behind a remarkable six-decade career that produced global hits including “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You,” while her philanthropy, particularly through the Imagination Library, touched millions of lives.
