Thai Police Arrest Two Nigerians Linked to Bangkok Drug Network; One Tried to Swallow Cocaine to Destroy Evidence

Authorities in Thailand have arrested two Nigerians identified as Amarachi and Ikenna, accused of belonging to a cross-border drug network targeting tourists in Bangkok and Pattaya.

In a coordinated operation, Chonburi Immigration and Pattaya City Police arrested two Nigerian men after a sting operation in Jomtien, seizing 33 grams of crystal meth and 9 grams of cocaine concealed in cigarette packs and toothpaste boxes.

One suspect attempted to swallow cocaine pellets to destroy evidence but was overpowered by officers.

Thai police say the arrests are tied to a wider Nigerian-led transnational drug network operating in Bangkok’s Nana Plaza district.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Songprod Sirisukha, Commander of Immigration Division 3, vowed to intensify crackdowns on foreign drug syndicates threatening Thailand’s tourism industry.
