EFCC Officer Dismissed, Faces Trial Over Theft of ₦22m Exhibits

Former exhibit keeper accused of diverting confiscated funds at Kaduna Zonal Office

A Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the trial of Polycarp Andrew, a dismissed EFCC officer, to December 11, 2025, following allegations that he stole ₦22 million worth of exhibits while serving at the commission’s Kaduna office.

Andrew, arraigned on May 5, 2025, faces six counts of criminal breach of trust after allegedly misappropriating funds kept in his custody between 2023 and 2024.

At Wednesday’s hearing, EFCC counsel H.M. Mohammed said two witnesses were ready to testify, but the defence sought more time to review a flash drive containing Andrew’s statements.

Justice A. Bello granted the adjournment. According to court filings, the ex-officer fled to Taraba State after diverting sums including $11,900, $3,800, and $2,800, all seized as evidence in separate cases.

The EFCC described his actions as a “serious breach of public trust,” noting that the offences contravene Section 300 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
