Nigeria Still Has Hope — But We Must Act Now, Says Abioro

Splash FM guest urges collective responsibility, early marriage values, and CAC-registered self-employment.

Public Affairs Analyst and politician, Hon. Itunu Abioro, says Nigeria’s progress depends on collective responsibility and a return to foundational societal values.

He made the remarks as a guest on Ojú Abẹ, a flagship public affairs programme on Splash 106.7FM Abeokuta, hosted by Lekan Aderibigbe.

Speaking on the topic “Nigeria: Past, Present, and Future,” Abioro stressed that while he believes the country still has hope, meaningful change cannot happen if citizens continue to rely solely on personal miracles while ignoring systemic decay.

According to him, Nigerians must understand the limited impact of political leadership over a lifetime.

“People need to understand that there are only eight presidents for everyone born before retirement eight elections, eight administrations, 64 years. We cannot depend on miracles and overlook structural collapse,” he said.

Abioro also called for a return to traditional values regarding family and responsibility, urging society to normalize earlier marriages.

“We need to go back and normalize men getting married before 26, and women before 21,” he added.

He further emphasized the importance of economic independence, stating that young people must embrace self-employment and ensure their businesses are properly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Abioro concluded by reaffirming that Nigeria’s future can still be bright but only if citizens, institutions, and leaders commit to collective action and structural reforms.
