Troops intensify counter-crime operations across North-Central Nigeria

Troops of the Nigerian Army have destroyed a major bandits’ camp in Taraba State and arrested seven suspected cultists in Benue State in renewed security operations.

The coordinated offensives, carried out by Operation Lafiya Nakowa and Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), targeted criminal networks across Taraba, Benue, and adjoining corridors.

In Taraba, troops uncovered a hideout near TY Farm in Tati, following credible intelligence reports. Several items, including a Dane gun, were recovered before the camp was destroyed.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, commended the troops’ professionalism and called for stronger community intelligence-sharing.

In a separate operation in Makurdi, Benue State, OPWS troops raided a suspected cult den in North Bank, arresting seven suspects linked to drug and robbery activities.

Major General Moses Gara, OPWS Commander, urged youths to shun cultism and assured continued operations to stabilise the region.
