JAMB Summons 94 Candidates, Institutions Over UTME Irregularities and Fake Certificates

Examination body moves to address malpractice and uphold integrity of admission process

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has summoned 94 candidates and several institutions over alleged irregularities in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), including the use of fake certificates.

The board said the action is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the credibility of Nigeria’s admission process and clamp down on examination malpractice.

According to JAMB, the affected candidates and institutions are being investigated for various infractions, ranging from falsification of academic credentials to involvement in suspicious registration and examination practices.

Officials noted that any candidate or institution found guilty would face appropriate sanctions in line with existing regulations, including disqualification and possible legal action.

The board reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency and fairness in the admission system, warning that it will continue to deploy strict measures to detect and punish malpractice.

Education stakeholders have welcomed the move, describing it as necessary to protect the integrity of the examination system and ensure that only qualified candidates gain admission into tertiary institutions across the country.
