President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new Police Academy campus in Ogun State, alongside a N15 billion take-off grant to support its development and operations.
The new campus is expected to expand the training capacity of the Nigerian Police Force by providing additional facilities for the education and professional development of police cadets. Officials say the initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen internal security and improve the quality of policing across the country.
The take-off grant will fund the initial phase of the project, including infrastructure development, academic facilities, accommodation, and essential training equipment. Authorities noted that the investment underscores the government’s commitment to modernising law enforcement institutions and enhancing national security architecture.

Security analysts say the expansion of police training institutions is crucial in addressing manpower gaps, improving professionalism, and equipping officers with the skills required to tackle evolving security challenges.
The project is also expected to contribute to economic activity in the host community through job creation and infrastructure development, as the Federal Government continues to prioritise security sector reforms nationwide.
