Domestic Violence Leaves Lasting Emotional Scars on Children, Moruf Yusuf Warns in Secure Mind Series #103

Security expert urges families to foster peaceful homes where children can grow in safety and emotional stability.

Security expert Moruf Yusuf, popularly known as Ojogbon, has emphasized that domestic violence not only affects victims directly but also leaves lasting emotional and psychological scars on children who witness or experience conflict at home.

The message is contained in Series #103 of The Secure Mind, his daily security awareness campaign dedicated to promoting practical safety, responsible living and peaceful communities.

According to Yusuf, parents play a vital role in shaping the emotional, moral and social development of their children. He noted that every home should be a place of love, trust and security where children can grow with confidence, stability and peace of mind.

He warned that when homes are characterised by violence, fear and constant conflict, children often suffer long-term emotional and psychological harm. Such experiences, he said, can negatively affect their behaviour, academic performance, relationships and overall well-being well into adulthood.

Yusuf stressed that a safety-conscious individual contributes to a secure home by embracing peaceful conflict resolution, showing mutual respect and creating an environment where children feel protected and are able to thrive.

“Preventing domestic violence is an investment in the emotional well-being and future of our children.”

Moruf Yusuf is a security expert and public safety advocate committed to promoting security awareness through The Secure Mind series. He is a member of the Association of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (ANIPR), the International Security Network (MISN), the Chartered Institute of Administration (FCAI), the Institute of Information Management (FIIM) and the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (MSPSP).

He concludes every edition with his signature message:

“Just be good. Reflect. Stay alert.”
