The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has apologised for his past statement that Christians who do not pay tithe would not make it to heaven.
Speaking on the issue, Adeboye acknowledged that the teaching was incorrect and not supported by Scripture.
"I apologize for saying, 'If you don't pay tithe, you won't make it to heaven.' I'm sorry, that's wrong, and it's not in the Bible," he said.
The cleric's remarks have generated widespread discussion among Christians, with many commending his willingness to publicly correct his earlier teaching.
Adeboye reaffirmed the importance of giving as a biblical principle while clarifying that salvation is not determined by the payment of tithes.
