University of Calabar Dismisses Eight Staff Over Misconduct, Delays Promotion of Another

Institution cites examination malpractice, absenteeism and abandonment of duty among reasons for disciplinary action.

The University of Calabar has dismissed eight teaching and non-teaching staff members over various acts of misconduct, including examination malpractice, absenteeism and abandonment of duty.

The disciplinary action followed the consideration of allegations against the affected staff members, with the university concluding that they had violated institutional rules and regulations.

In addition to the dismissals, the university approved a two-year delay in the promotion of another staff member as part of its disciplinary measures.

The University of Calabar said the sanctions reflect its commitment to maintaining discipline, accountability and professional standards within the institution.

The university reaffirmed its resolve to uphold integrity in its academic and administrative processes, warning that misconduct by staff will continue to attract appropriate sanctions.
