Security expert Moruf Yusuf, popularly known as Ojogbon, has emphasised the importance of maintaining strong security awareness in the workplace, noting that protecting confidential information is a shared responsibility of every employee.
The advice was contained in Series #96 of The Secure Mind, his daily security awareness campaign dedicated to promoting responsible behaviour and strengthening public safety consciousness.
According to Yusuf, security should not be limited to homes and public spaces but must also be reflected in everyday conduct within offices and other workplaces where sensitive information, valuable equipment and official records are handled.
He explained that confidential documents containing financial records, official correspondence, personal information and other sensitive materials should never be discarded carelessly. Instead, such documents should be shredded or destroyed in accordance with approved office procedures to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.
Yusuf also cautioned employees against discussing confidential office matters or personal family issues in public places or with unauthorised individuals, stressing that careless conversations can expose organisations and individuals to unnecessary security risks.
He encouraged workers to adhere strictly to workplace security policies, safeguard confidential information and remain vigilant for suspicious activities that could endanger colleagues, the organisation or the public.
“A strong culture of workplace security protects both people and information.”
