The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has busted a suspected arms-smuggling ring, seizing 3,300 cartridges alongside other prohibited and smuggled goods with a combined value of about N365 million.
The seizure was made during an enforcement operation aimed at disrupting the illegal movement of arms-related materials and other contraband into the country.
Customs authorities said the interception demonstrates the agency's continued efforts to prevent prohibited goods from entering Nigeria through the nation's borders.
The seized cartridges have been secured for further investigation, while the suspects linked to the alleged smuggling operation are expected to face appropriate legal action.
The NCS has continued to strengthen surveillance, intelligence gathering and collaboration with other security agencies to tackle smuggling and protect national security.
The latest seizure also highlights the security risks associated with the illegal trafficking of ammunition and other restricted items across Nigeria's borders.
