The Kwara State Commissioner of Police has warned police officers against indiscriminately searching the phones of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.
The CP directed officers to ensure that any search of a corps member's phone is conducted within the law and based on legitimate security considerations.
He cautioned against arbitrary checks that could infringe on the privacy and rights of corps members serving in the state.
The warning comes amid broader concerns over the conduct of security personnel and the need to ensure that law enforcement operations are carried out professionally and in accordance with established procedures.
The police commissioner urged officers to maintain professionalism, respect human rights and avoid actions that could undermine public confidence in the force.
