The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged corps members to play an active role in curbing misinformation across Nigeria.
The NYSC DG said corps members, as young and influential members of society, have an important role to play in promoting accurate information and discouraging the spread of false or misleading claims.
He urged them to verify information before sharing it, particularly on social media and other digital platforms where unverified content can spread rapidly.
The NYSC leadership also encouraged corps members to use their positions within host communities to promote responsible communication and public awareness.
The call comes amid growing concerns over the impact of misinformation on public safety, social cohesion and national development.
The DG stressed that corps members can contribute to a better-informed society by checking facts, rejecting unverified claims and sharing credible information.
