Foreign-trained Nigerian medical graduates have expressed concern over the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria's (MDCN) sudden increase in the registration fee for newly qualified doctors.
The graduates said the fee hike was introduced without prior notice or any official explanation from the regulatory body, leaving many of them frustrated and uncertain about the registration process.
According to the affected doctors, the unexpected increase has placed an additional financial burden on graduates who are already facing significant expenses associated with completing their professional registration in Nigeria.
They have called on the MDCN to provide a clear justification for the new charges and urged the council to engage stakeholders to ensure greater transparency in decisions affecting medical practitioners.
The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria is yet to publicly explain the reason for the increase in the registration fee for newly qualified doctors.
